Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting is now scheduled to take place on Thursday 24 September, at 7:00pm, at Swedenborg Community Victoria, Unit 3, 20 Duerdin Street, Clayton VIC 3169
Aside from the usual reports, we are asking members to consider accepting the following amendment to the definition of membership in our constitution:
The current definition:
- Membership is open to all those who reside, study, work or worships within the boundaries of the city of Monash in Victoria.
- Membership is open to all above the age of 18 years.
- Membership to the MIG Inc., requires a minimum attendance of 1 (bi-monthly) regular meetings and MIG Inc. organised Event in person or on line over a period of 2 years.
Motion: To amend Rule 8(1) of the MIG Inc. Constitution to read as follows:
“Membership is open to all those who reside, study, work, or worship within the city of Monash or its adjoining municipal councils or have a demonstrated connection to the city of Monash in Victoria.“
Rules 8 (2) & (3) will remain as they stand.
The purpose of this amendment is to expand MIG’s reach and allow greater flexibility with regard to the appointment of officers and committee members. Finding able and willing people to stand for committee positions is a constant challenge, especially given the constitution’s restrictions on tenure, which limits individuals to serving a maximum of three terms (6 years).
