Stronger Families Across Generations brings together

the         Monash Interfaith Gathering (MIG Inc)                and

the Migrant Information Centre  (MIC) Eastern Melbourne

in a shared commitment to supporting and strengthening one of society’s most important institutions: the family.

Families are where foundations are laid, values are formed, identity is nurtured, and resilience is built.

For many migrant families, these foundations are shaped by the opportunities and challenges of navigating different cultures,

generations and life experiences while striving to maintain connection, belonging and hope.

Through faith perspectives, lived experience, practical wisdom and information about available support services,

this event explores both the inner strengths that sustain families and the outer supports that help them thrive.

It seeks to inspire hope, strengthen family harmony, and equip participants with tools to build safe, connected and resilient relationships across generations.

The program features:

Rev. Sylvia Akauola–Tongotongo speaking on Family: The Archetype of Unity in Diversity.

Shyama Fuad presenting True Families: Islamic Values that Nurture Deeper Relationships.

Venerable Phra Ajahn Tanee (presented by Nid Dickinson) sharing a Buddhist perspective on Family Mindfulness.

Deborah Sugirthakumar, award-winning author of Raising Resilient Families, exploring how families can build resilience, strengthen relationships, and recognise when everyday conflict becomes harmful.

Through storytelling, reflection and practical strategies, participants will gain insights into respectful communication, emotional literacy, accountability, mindfulness and community connection.
