to address our Mental Health Forum.

Jaya Manchikanti is the founder and CEO of IndianCare, a not-for-profit organisation

that endeavours to connect members of the South Asian community in Victoria with vital services

and care designed to support welfare and wellbeing in a culturally-competent manner.

IndianCare addresses critical issues such as alcohol abuse and domestic violence.

Jaya has worked across a range of not-for-profit organisations, local and state governments

in Victoria for the last three decades. She has a Master’s Degree in International and Community Development

and is undertaking a PhD at Victoria University, investigating the link between community development and sustainable development.

Jaya received the 2021 Premier’s Volunteer Champion of the Year, the 2021 Volunteer Leadership Award

and the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Award and is the first South Asian winner of these awards in Victoria.

She was inducted into the inaugural Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll in 2022.

Dr. Rajmohan Ramanathapillai has a Master of Counselling from Monash University and

a PhD in Philosophy from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, USA.

He is currently serving as a trauma counsellor/advocate at Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture.

He is also Family Violence Therapeutic Specialist at EACH, working mainly with women and children.

He is former Director of the Multifaith Centre at Griffith University in QLD.
